ABOUT MICHAELA

The word “project” was chosen to communicate the idea of “building” not only wellness as a way of being but my practice as a whole. Your wellness is not a task to complete but a project to fall in love with, a way of being to curate for yourself. This is my mission with The Wise&Well Project; to connect you to the joy of becoming yourself. My commitment to you is to continue building myself; mind, body, and soul to best serve you in your wellness journey. I do so with joy & honour.

My name is Michaela, I graduated with my Bachelor of Social Work in 2018 and have 8 years of experience in the human services sector. I started my journey as a "helper" if you will in elementary school. My class would volunteer at festivals, supported living facilities, charity events, etc. In fact, for my 10th birthday I invited my friends to participate in a charity fundraising walk for sick children. Needless to say, the question of "what can I do" has always been a part of my default functioning.

This led me on a dualistic journey; one of self-sacrifice in the name of helping others that inevitably led me to (the other side of the coin) one where balance became a necessity for my mental and physical health.

Not only do I have the education but I have the lived experience too. Along with a burning curiosity that often keeps me up at night. All that being said I have researched, trialed, doubted, and fought many tools and habits myself. I am now in a place where I can confidently say that balance seems more achievable (which annoys my inner skeptic just as much as you'd think).

Wise&Well and its offerings will continue to evolve as I grow as a practitioner. But the WHY will always remain rooted in a perspective of non hierarchy and mutual understanding with a deep honour of the 1:1 relationship. Client led - always, this space is intended to create more conversations, connection, and joy in the "work" that is counselling/personal development/spirituality (or other chosen verbiage). The best thing you have to offer the world is yourself - how would it feel to enjoy the process of being you?

Philosophy

"Guidance is offered in the form of individual sessions, self-study tools, and movement practices. With a focus on nervous system healing, spirituality, and mindfulness Michaela leads sessions in a client centred way. Focusing primarily on your wellness goals and how it feels most aligned for you to reach them. Her guidance is offered with an open dialogue; everything is an experiment and the plan can always pivot to what you need in the moment. Michaela recognises the importance of willingly giving and graciously receiving, honouring the balanced energy exchange in every 1 on 1 relationship. "

-GUIDANCE

"Movement is such a focus of Michaela’s practice that it got a pillar of its own. Woven into the tissues of our bodies are unconscious responses to our past. The nervous system holds onto these memories for the purposes of protection. However, for some of us, these responses can make us feel small. Or it makes us behave in ways that are in-congruent with who we are. No matter where you are on this journey, movement is medicine. The intensity, intention, and frequency of said movement will be specific to you. This is where Michaela steps in to offer an individualised approach to your movement based first, on regulating your nervous system and then, on your expansive movement goals. "

-MOVEMENT

"Connecting you to your authenticity is a primary goal of the philosophy here at Wise&Well. Through a variety of tools Michaela’s practice is intended to connect you more deeply to yourself, your authority, and your sovereignty; putting you back in the driver’s seat of your life. Psychology based tools, mindfulness, nervous system knowledge, astrology, and human design are used in creating an individualised approach to your self-discovery. This pillar supports an improved self concept & the development of a deeper well of confidence = joy in becoming you."

-AUTHENTICITY

“The goal is not to fit in. If anything, it’s to amplify the differences, what doesn’t fit, the special characteristics unique to how you see the world. Instead of sounding like others, value your own voice. Develop it.”

Rick Rubin, The Creative Act: A Way of Being
